INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND India is the largest Democracy in the worldm with one of the largest populations.  Recently attaining the precarious position as a "Nuclear State", India fights constantly for recognition as a world power.  Its isolated location, form the West's perspective, keeps it in relatively low public view.  However, recent economic growth, human rights issues and military clashes have brought India to the forefront of the modern media.
